It's crazy that I've lived in SD for 26 years and have never been here. My husband got a $50 GC from his work so we came here for a casual Sunday dinner. Parking... there is a pay lot or you can wait in the free parking area for someone to leave. We did this and it took 5+ minutes. We walked around not knowing if this was a restaurant where we needed to be seated or order at the counter and seat yourself. Ordering at the counter was very quick. He was helpful and friendly. We ordered 2 cups of chowder (Manhattan and New Rngland), a rainbow roll, a fish plate and 2 large beers. Our total was $80. Yikes. The large beers were very large. I wouldn't have gotten this size if I saw the cup. Anyways... it was good regardless. The white chowder was my favorite. The red chowder was watery and there was no fish. Mostly tomatoes. The sushi was ok. The fish from the fish plate was good and fresh and flaky. The fries were not hot. I really like hot fries so this was disappointing. The view was nice, plenty of seats. Lots of babies and dogs. Everyone was nice except for the jerk who almost us coming into the parking lot trying to get in front of us when we were there first. Stay classy SD!
We used to come here when we lived in San Diego. Some reviews mention the simplicity of the sandwiches, but I believe that's part of their charm. Their signature sandwich is a slice of sourdough bread with fried fish and delicious tartar sauce. My partner ordered the spicy shrimp sandwich for old times' sake and was not disappointed. Our son initially didn't want to eat anything but took one bite of the sandwich and ended up eating half of it. I do not recall them having the upstairs outdoor seating before. We didn't have a chance to try it out because our dogs were with us, so we ate our food on the outdoor cement benches with seagulls and pigeons next to the ocean. The ambiance and taste were just as we remembered, and we enjoyed it very much. This is a fish market with some fast food options. You need to adjust your expectations. My rating is based on what I tried there, which is very limited, but it was very delicious. Five stars to the tartar sauce.
Full service seafood market right on the bay. The place has been around for over 70years. Most come for the super fresh fish to be cooked to order. I ordered the combo plate (cod, crab cake, shrimp) came with slaw and fries ($20 including tax). The fries were ok and I didn't care at all for the dressing on the slaw and only reason for not giving 5 stars. Everything else from the fish to service to the views were perfect. Parking is free (60 minutes) and there is plenty of seating indoor, on their covered balcony, or outside on the cement benches. The view of the bay and the working fishing boats is beautiful. Place is always packed with tourists and locals but they are still able to get your orders out pretty quickly. Place is great for small or medium groups.
We can't start by saying anything except FRESH!!! You walk in to an array of displays of all the fresh fish and seafood you could imagine and then you have to narrow it down to your choices and order. They quickly prepare whatever you order perfectly and provide it with friendly service. Plenty of seating inside, outside or on the upper deck and great views of the marina. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. I mean how many places still offer beverages for under 3 dollars. I am a fried clam snob and these were lightly costed, perfectly fried, tender and absolutely no grit ( do you know they're well cleaned). If I was staying longer I'd go again and again.
Seriously the best fish market near downtown SD. We get our sushi grade fish here for at home sushi night. The fish is always a healthy serving for fillets and I love the plates served with rice and veg. The beer list is great and there's nothing better than an ice cold pint and a fresh fish taco.
Came in this market it the best place in San Diego for seafood super fresh and smoked fish is delicious .Customer service is amazing and fast they also cook the fish on the menu . Only downside is parking but if you Uber this will be the place to eat and enjoy a nice walk . Ambiance is cool totally fish market vibes .

There's a few mix reviews in here. Parking: I'm not sure if it's like this all the time but there was someone to guide us where to park. If you're coming with someone make sure to just hop off first cause the lines can be long. Lines: Generally it's easy to spot the ever so growing line, but if there isn't one just walk up and ask if there's a line. Cause I have seen while waiting for my food, people standing around to order not realizing that there was two people in line and they thought it was random step up to the counter. It is not. Ordering: Generally it's easier if you know what you want already, they can get a bit impatient, but the guy helping me was quick and fast. And yes you pay with them too. I was confused about that. Pickup food: They give you a number make sure you get it if you don't know where it is on your receipt. Wait: While you wait head over to the brewery to find a seat and order a beer. You can always leave 15/20 minutes later to get your food and come back, with a seat. It gets hectic at Point Loma Seafoods so best to go elsewhere. Food: I believe we waited 30 minutes for our food, we came during heavy lunch time. But I felt like it was worth it, maybe it was because while drinking beer at the brewery it didn't feel like a wait at all. That could be it. Yummy fresh tasting crab and yummy fresh tasting fish. I will come here again to try some more. Yumm.
